If your passion is sailing, family boating or simply just mucking about in boats, the Better Boating Lounge is a must for show visitors in Hall 2.
• For experienced boaters, this is your chance to brush up on your boating techniques and learn a fresh tip or two.
• For the beginner, you’ll be given a valuable insight into the world of boating.
• Come and learn more about sailing. Visit the ‘Discover Sailing Centre’ hosted by Yachting NSW.
This year will feature a great array of speakers including some adventurers (old and new) with a great story to tell, a skill to share or an experience to inspire. They include:-

Who: Mike Perham
What: Speaker at the Better Boating Lounge

Mike Perham, who at the age of 14 became the youngest person to sail across the Atlantic solo and unassisted, a record that remains unbroken to this day. Mike again sailed into the history books at the age of 17 to become the youngest person to sail around the world single-handed after a gruelling 158 days at sea. |

Don McIntyre, who has just re-lived the Mutiny on the Bounty, where Fletcher Christian cast William Bligh and 18 of his men adrift in a 23ft boat, which marked the beginning of one of the greatest open boat voyages in maritime history. During the following seven weeks, Bligh and his men sailed over 3,700 nautical miles in an overloaded boat, with little food or water and no charts, from Tonga to Kupang in Timor. |

The La Barca family will share their experience of sailing around the world in 1825 days. Their world voyage took this Northern Beaches family through Asia, across the Indian Ocean and around the Cape of Good Hope, through the Caribbean and the Panama Canal before sailing across the Pacific to home.

Sean Smith, also known as the ‘Fat Paddler’ travels Australia and the world in pursuit of the best waterways and kayaking experiences. Sean started kayaking after a sports injury and two major vehicle accidents where he paddled his way back into good health. He recounts his frequent kayaking adventures on his website to a huge following http://fatpaddler.com/. Kayaking has seen a tremendous growth in popularity in recent years and remains one of the easiest and inexpensive ways to get out on the water to enjoy the boating lifestyle. |
