press release...
Sea Ray to Star at Sydney International Boat Show
5th May 2004
Sea Ray, the prestigious United States manufacturer of one of boating's most popular brands, is readying itself for a major assault on the 2004 Sydney International Boat Show, with the state's three authorised dealerships combining to present a Sea Ray Exhibition.
The show, scheduled for July 29-August 3 at its now traditional Darling Harbour venue, will attract more than 300 exhibitors displaying all manner of marine goods and services, from multi million dollar yachts to tiny tinnies, high-tech marine electronics to the latest in fishing tackle, nautical clothing, trailerboats and general boating accessories.
Andrew Short Marine, Sports Marine and Hirecraft Marine, New South Wales' Sea Ray network, will be displaying a "smorgasbord" of the latest models, ranging from stylish 5.48-metre bowriders to majestic 17.67-metre motor yachts.
The impressive display will be staged within the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre, where Sea Ray models up to 12.95-metres will dominate and on the spectacular Cockle Bay Marina adjacent, where the "flagships" of the Sea Ray range will hold court.
As usual, the Sydney International Boat Show, widely recognised as the industry's major exhibition and among the top shows of its type in the world, is littered with not-to-be-missed highlights. The Yamaha Fishing Clinic, the Gillette-sponsored Boat Building Competition and the daily fashion parades can all be counted upon to provide hard to match entertainment.
Strictly Sail, featuring the finest boats from Australia, Europe and the USA, is sure to cause plenty of interest from those who prefer to do their boating "under canvas", while the powerboat displays will be the equal of anything seen anywhere.
Industry legend Bill Barry-Cotter has chosen the Sydney show to launch his all-new Maritimo range to the world, these luxurious, long-range motor yachts sure to create plenty of interest.
The Riviera Group, Beneteau, Catalina, Princess, Sunseeker, Fairline, Mustang, Carver, the names go on and on.
In fact, the vast majority of recreational boating's top names will be in evidence at Darling Harbour of the six action-packed days.
Domenic Genua, marketing and event manager for show organisers, the Boating Industry Association of NSW, says the show is expected to attract upwards of 90,000 visitors. "The annual Sydney International Boat Show, from both the exhibitor and visitor aspects, is really more than a show, it's a major event", he said. "Many people attend year after year, and feedback the association has received reveals there are people who simply wouldn't miss the chance to attend on a yearly basis".
This year's show will be open daily, 10am to 8pm.
Admission prices are $15 (single adult), $38 (family ticket admitting two adults and up to three children 17-years and under), $10 (aged pensioners) and $8 (children aged 6-17 years).
Those under 5-years admitted free.
The show venue is served by all manner of public transport, trains, buses, monorail, light rail and ferries, with parking stations throughout the area for motorists' use, all within a few minutes walk of the main entrance.
Genua's tip for visitors? "Arrive early", he suggests, "where better to enjoy breakfast before visiting the show than seated by the waterside at one of Darling Harbour's many restaurants and cafes".
