Stay Cool at the Sydney International Boat Show with the Release of 'Blue Cool'
24th June 2004

The 2004 Sydney International Boat Show, set to open for six spectacular days, July 29 - August 3, is renowned for introducing new boats, new engines and new boating related products to boating enthusiasts.

This year, it's no different, with a score of interesting new releases scheduled for Darling Harbour's maritime extravaganza.

Sponsored by Club Marine and the Waterways Authority, the show this year features the largest marina ever specifically assembled for an Australian boat show, with more than 230 luxury craft on display.

There will be new releases at every turn, ranging from Mercury Marine's stunning array of Verado outboards, the world's first supercharged four-strokes, new boats from the cream of local and overseas manufacturers, the always popular Yamaha Fishing Clinic, the Strictly Sail exhibition, daily fashion parades and the educational (and often hilarious!) Boat Building Competition.

One new release sure to attract the interest of those who like their boating in comfort will be the offerings from Webasto Product Australia, scheduled to unveil a range of high-quality marine air conditioning systems under the name 'Blue Cool'.

The innovative product range is the result of a partnership between Webasto and a well-known European marine air conditioning manufacturer. 'Blue Cool' will be marketed in two styles, 'Blue Cool Classic, compact, self-contained units and as chilled water systems, designated 'Blue Cool Premium'. The 'Blue Cool Classic' range comprises eight different sized models, offering cooling capacities from 1.5kW to 8.8kW, ideal for vessels with one to three cabin areas.

Standard features include environmentally friendly refrigerant, easy to use digital displays, plug and play wiring looms and automatic water pump. Extensive use of stainless steel components and aircraft quality two-pack epoxy paints, together with gold-plated electrical contacts, ensure corrosion protection. The innovative range also includes a DC 1.5kW unit suitable for either 12 or 24-volt operation.

'Blue Cool Premium', the water chiller range, offers 12 models designed for larger vessels and boast operating capacities from 3.5kW to 14.6kW. Custom units up to 150kW capacity are available on special order. The 'Blue Cool Premium' range can meet applications ranging from superyachts to passenger ferries, even military, naval and high-speed patrol craft. With a space saving compressor unit in the vessel's engine room, chilled water is pumped throughout the craft to each individual cabin area, incorporating air handlers/heat exchangers to provide varying temperature zones.

All units are capable of heating with a reverse cycle option on both the Classic and Premium ranges.

The premium units can be upgraded to superior heating qualities with the addition of a fuel-powered Webasto water heater integrated into the existing air conditioning plumbing. A system equipped with the Webasto Thermo-top water heater ensures comfort in even the coldest conditions likely to be encountered in southern oceans, with the added advantage of being able to operate at night without generator power.

This unique equipment is just one of many reasons why the Sydney International Boat Show is rightly regarded as Australia's number one recreational boating exhibit.

Other prime new release attractions include the Australia's 2004/05 Boat of the Year, the 2600 Sports Cabriolet from Powercat Marine, the awesome 51 Convertible from The Riviera Group, recently named Non-Trailerable Cruiser of the Year and the world launch of the luxurious Maritimo motor yachts from the drawing board of industry legend Bill Barry-Cotter.

Open daily, 10am to 8pm, the show is expected to attract up to 90,000 visitors. Admission charges are $15 (single adult), $38 (family ticket admitting two adults and up to three children aged 6-17-years), $10 (Ages Pensioners) and $8 (children aged 6-17-years). Children under 5-years admitted free.

Darling Harbour is easily accessed, is only a short stroll from the city centre and is served by all manner of public transport, including numerous bus services, the suburban rail network, ferries, light rail and monorail. Motorists will find parking stations abound in the area, all within a few minutes walk of the main entrance.

Certainly a boating spectacle not to be missed.
