2004 Sydney International Boat Show
press release...
The New Catalina 387 at the Sydney International Boat Show
25th June 2004
Catalina Anchorage will be showcasing the new Catalina 387 at the 2004 Sydney International Boat Show. The Catalina 387 represents the highpoint in the development of the modern cruising yacht.
The main saloon features 6'9" headroom, eight opening ports and hatches and light teak and ash timberwork throughout. This provides for an extraordinarily light and open feeling below. Four table configurations in the main saloon provide the ultimate in versatility - large dining table, extended dining table, cocktail table and game table.
Cockpit entertaining is uncramped, convenient and relaxing with 9-foot cockpit seats port and starboard - easily the largest in its class, and a large integrated cockpit table.
Both owner's and guest's cabin feature full inner spring mattresses - the rear cabin has a 7'6" double bed making it the largest cabin available in any similar sized yacht. Adjoining this cabin is the head with a separate shower compartment behind a glass door.
On deck, the 387 features a powerful twin spreader one piece masthead rig with Schaefer furling gear, full battened main with single line reefing and Dutchman flaking system. With the highest ballast/displacement ratio in its class, a very high sail area/displacement ratio and the security of a shaft drive, the Catalina 387 is a seaworthy, fast, reliable passagemaker easily driven by a couple.
Catalina Anchorage will also be featuring the Catalina 350, the Catalina 400 and the Catalina 320 at the Sydney International Boat Show- the single most popular production keel yacht in Australia today. All Catalina yachts come with the option of fixed or low draft wing keels and all models are in complete sail-away configuration.
Also featuring at the Catalina Anchorage display will be the Belgium made unsinkable ETAP 37s. The ETAP 37s has recently been voted USA's Cruising World Magazine's Production Yacht of the Year 2004 and was the only yacht awarded a Commendation Award at the most recent Australian Marine Awards for Imported Sailboat of the Year, 2004.
Catalina Anchorage is also pleased to announce it has resumed the management of Ausail Yacht Charters and during the boat show will be offering very good incentives for winter chartering on Sydney Harbour and a 'Try Before Buying" scheme that allows the cost of the charter to be deducted from the price of a new Catalina if ordered within three months of the charter.
