The Boating Industry Association of NSW, organiser of the annual Sydney International Boat Show, has pulled out all stops to ensure the largest and most important recreational boating exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere has something to offer all who love the great outdoors.
Boating, fishing, water skiing, sailing and cruising, no matter where your interest lies, the Sydney International Boat Show simply demands a prominent place on your agenda.
The 2005 Sydney International Boat Show is timed to start at 10am on Thursday, July 28 and will unleash its excitement daily until 8pm through to Tuesday, August 2.
Attractions of interest at every turn, as more than 300 exhibitors show off the finest in boats, marine electronics, fishing tackle, marine engines, nautical fashion and sportswear, 'skis and wakeboards and general boating accessories and equipment the marine industry has to offer.
According to Domenic Genua, the association's Marketing and Event Manager, it's difficult to state just which is likely to be the show's primary drawcard.
"For some, no doubt the first NSW display of the recently announced Boats of the Year will prove a major attraction," he said. "Others will no doubt flock to the always popular Yamaha Fishing Clinic, regarded as Australia's finest and usually a standing room only situation as anglers, both the experienced and the beginner flock to pick up advice from the experts."
"All members of the family will find interest in the daily fashion parades, featuring the latest in nautical themed clothing and sportswear, while those who are dedicated boaters will be impressed with the Better Boating workshops. Really, whether it's the packed halls of the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre or the adjoining and spectacular Cockle Bay Marina, home to more than 270 luxury vessels, the only way to describe this year's show is 'interest packed to the rafters'" Genua added.
Sponsored by Club Marine and NSW Maritime, the show is expected to attract anywhere up to 95,000 visitors and stands primed to be the first boat show south of the equator to attract the 100,000-plus gate.
The all-time visitor attendance record was set last year when nearly 94,000 flocked to Darling Harbour for the show.
A major plus for the organisers is the ease of access Darling Harbour offers. All manner of public transport serves the area and motorists are offered numerous parking options. The Harbourside shopping complex, surrounded by five-star hotels and numerous restaurants and waterfront cafes all add to the show's all round appeal as a family day out.
