Paddlers Find Solid Performance In a Rec Boat That Evolves With Their Skills

Recreational paddlers have long suffered a trade off between stability and paddling performance. That ends today. Designed with the performance-conscience recreational paddler in mind, Necky Kayaks introduced the 2005 Manitou Sport. A lightweight recreational kayak at heart, the Manitou Sport is built to provide a highly stable platform with performance unheard of in its class, giving novice paddlers a boat that can evolve along with their skills.

The Manitou Sport kayak provides high primary and secondary stability, cruises efficiently and comfortably, tracks well without a rudder, and has a large (106.7cm x 52.1cm) cockpit that is easy to enter and exit. It is built mainly for recreational paddlers who appreciate a high-quality boat but care more about family fun and on-water activities than about paddling for its own sake.

“We made this boat for people who are looking for a recreational boat with outstanding performance and enjoy on-water activities like bird watching, photography, and exploring the nooks and crannies of a lake or river system” says Necky Kayaks Marketing Director Sara Knies. “In this boat, a person can take a break from paddling to look through a camera or binoculars and feel comfortably stable”.

The Manitou Sport is a poly boat with elegant lines, 67.3cm wide, weighing 19.9kgs, and able to accommodate paddlers up to 100kgs. It features a dolphin bow, rear neoprene hatch and bulkhead, adjustable foot pedals, deck rigging, and recessed deck fittings with molded-in attachment points. It also utilizes the comfortable new Extrasports Outfitting Seat with forward seat adjustment.

Necky Kayaksis part of the Johnson Outdoors family of innovative, market-leading brands.  The company designs, manufacturers and markets a portfolio of top quality products for the global market place. Canoe Sports is the Australian Distributor for Necky Kayaks.

The Manitou Sport will be launched and available to view at the Canoe Sports stand (Hall 2, Stand 216 & 219) at the Sydney International Boat Show 28th July to 2nd August 2005.
