Yamaha's Fabulous Fishing Clinic, Just One of the Many Highlights at the 2006 Sydney International Boat Show

5th June 2006

The stage is set, the final floor plans are being readied and soon it will be all ahead full for the 2006 Sydney International Boat Show (August 3-8) at Darling Harbour.

More than 350 exhibitors displaying their goods and services, backed up by perhaps the most spectacular marina display on Cockle Bay in the show's history, where in excess of 270 million dollar-plus vessels will call home, will set the scene for the biggest boat show in the Southern Hemisphere.

The 2006 show, the 39th staged by organiser, the Boating Industry Association of NSW, will again feature an interesting range of 'shows within the show.'

One sure to attract more than its share of attention will be the Yamaha Fishing Clinic, which, in recent years plays consistently to standing room only crowds.

Research undertaken by show organisers has indicated that more than half of all visitors, and there is likely to be upwards of 90,000 of them, have an interest in fishing.
In the 13-years it has been held, the Yamaha Fishing Clinic has cemented itself as a show favourite, with an impressive array of guest speakers and presenters.

This year, the team has again promised to offer informative and varying presentations in a 'no nonsense' manner for the enjoyment of the audience, no matter their angling skill level.

New and informative topics reflecting changing habits, interests and techniques related to all forms of sportfishing will be among the subjects covered.

Heading the team again will be 'the skipper', angling legend Dick Lewers, just the man to keep the team on the straight and narrow and ensure educational entertainment for all in the audience.

ABC weatherman Mike Bailey will again compere the show, which will feature such noted angling identities as lure guru Peter Pakula, Tim Simpson, casting expert John Bethune, Steve Starling, radio personality Bruce Schumacher and, of coursed, Brian Anson-Smith and his performing fish.

It does not end there; more fishing identities are on the schedule and a series of special guests is now being finalised, each bringing 'something special' to the show.

Needless to say, the Yamaha Fishing Clinic will be complemented by the enormous range of specialist fishing boats on display, both throughout the six huge halls of the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre and on the Cockle Bay Marina.

From flat bottom punts powered by electric positioning motors to massive blue water convertibles capable of ranging far and wide in search of the famous black marlin, the Sydney International Boat Show really does offer something to suit all budgets.

The show does boast a history of brand new product releases and visitors can always rely on being among the first to see a new boat, some 'hot' marine electronics, the latest hi-tech tackle or that urgently needed item from among the general boating accessory segment.

Proudly sponsored by Club Marine Insurance and NSW Maritime, the 2006 Sydney International Boat Show will be open daily, 10am to 8pm.
