Riviera to Unveil Revolutionary Sport Yacht, New Lifestyle Flybridge Cruiser at Sydney International Boat Show

13th June 2006

Australia’s largest luxury cruiser manufacturer, Riviera, will hold the world release of its new 4700 Sport Yacht at the Sydney International Boat Show at the beginning of August this year. The company’s new concept Flybridge cruiser will also make its Sydney debut at the Show.

Both of these new cruisers take advantage of Riviera’s strong investment in technology, adopting computer-aided design and computer moulding. All interior high gloss joinery glows with varnish applied by a fully automated varnishing system while hatches and small components have been built using Light Resin Transfer Moulding technology, ensuring consistent quality and strength.

The 4700Sport Yacht breaks new ground for Riviera, including optional accommodation layout, a garage with 3-metre tender and hydraulic swim platform. This is the latest member of the Riviera’s European-style Sport Yacht family, building on the success of the 3600 Sport Yacht launched at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show in May of 2005. Already 33 Sport Yachts have been bought since the launch a little more than 12 months ago.

The new 56 Enclosed Flybridge cruiser launched at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show in May brings a new level of lifestyle luxury to cruising.

This model is the first Riviera Flybridge cruiser to include the al fresco lifestyle saloon aft window hinging up to bring the cockpit and saloon together. An aft galley, internal staircase and a range of other new design initiatives make the Riviera 56 the most exciting new Flybridge cruiser from Australia’s most awarded pleasure boat builder.

4700 SPORT YACHT –
ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS AND A TENDER GARAGE

The elegant 4700SY expands on the single-level lifestyle design of the 3600SY including an aft galley and stainless steel pillarless aft bulkhead door and fold-up window that open the saloon right out into the cockpit.

Continuing Riviera’s commitment to innovation, the 4700SY offers owners the option of two accommodation layouts to further personalise the vessel: a three cabin and two bathroom design or two cabins and two bathrooms plus a below-deck lounge area.

Concept Design Manager Neil McCabe said: “Our computer modeling systems are giving us greater opportunities to offer these options. Our goal with the 4700SY was to create a fully specified boat while giving our customers the opportunity to tailor it to suit their individual needs and tastes.”

Combining the security of shaft-drive diesel propulsion with an al fresco lifestyle character, the 4700SY magnifies the sense of light and space first seen on the 3600SY. Expansive panoramic windows and a huge electric sunroof in the saloon further enhance the relaxed, refreshing and airy ambience.

The cockpit of the 4700SY is an expansive entertaining area, complete with an electric barbecue built into the transom, fully equipped wet bar: bar fridge, solid surface benchtop with a sink and a locker with rubbish bin.

One of the most stunning innovations in this innovative new Riviera Sport Yacht is a garage tucked under the cockpit with a 3.1m Zodiac tender that can be launched with ease on to the teak hydraulic swim platform. The entire platform raises and lowers with touch of a button to help launch or retrieve the tender and personal watercraft.

The saloon of the 4700 Sport Yacht is an extension of the entertaining area with an L-shaped leather lounge running the full length, with chaise. A fold-out dinette table can be lowered to convert to a coffee table.

The contemporary styled aft galley includes a two-burner electric cooktop, convection microwave oven, under-bench refrigerator with freezer compartment, drawer dishwasher and overhead storage lockers above the cooktop as well as a pull-out pantry.

Accommodation includes a fully carpeted master stateroom forward featuring a queen walk-around bed with an innerspring mattress and mitred corners.

The ensuite bathroom is designed with a contemporary glass basin semi-recessed into a solid surface benchtop, Amtico flooring, shower stall with glass door, Vacuflush toilet and high quality mixer taps.

The second bedroom, portside, has twin beds with an infill available to convert to a double bed, bedside table with drawers and cedar-lined hanging locker. Two opening port lights provide additional natural light and air.

The optional third bedroom starboard is designed with upper and lower berths with storage under the lower bunk as well as a cedar-lined hanging locker. The alternative in this area is a lounge with doors into the master bedroom.

RIVIERA 56 ENCLOSED FLYBRIDGE –
A CRUISER LIKE NO OTHER IN 25 YEARS
The interior layout of the three cabin/three head 56 Enclosed Flybridge cruiser is breakthrough design for Riviera. The galley, dinette and lounge are all on one level. The U-shape galley in the aft port quarter is superbly equipped with a three-burner cooktop, convection microwave oven, two fridges and a freezer mounted under the solid surface benchtop. The dinette, immediately forward of the galley, includes a sliding-top table that opens up to reveal storage for drink glasses. A 32-inch flat-screen television and Bose Lifestyle system in the saloon provide the entertainment. The entire saloon is, of course, air conditioned.

Interior designer Helene Johnston said: “The design is very much a group effort. There are strong European influences with squared sofas and bedheads. The dinette has a lounge-diner feel to it; very contemporary.”

Access to the fully air-conditioned flybridge is via a wide staircase from the saloon with teak non-slip treads. The forward helm position with a companion chair face a full-beam-wide dash that can accommodate three full 15” monitors. A docking station in the aft of the flybridge makes reversing and docking the boat a breeze.

Accommodation includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The master stateroom starboard has a particularly light and airy feel with a large porthole in the hull.

McCabe said: “The porthole innovation is a result both of interaction with owners as well as research on overseas trends.”

Of course, all accommodation and bathrooms are fully air-conditioned.
