Catana 47 Ocean Class Sails Into Sydney
21st June 2006
Luxury performance sailing catamaran, the Catana 47 Ocean Class, is being exhibited for the first time at the Sydney International Boat Show in August 2006 by exclusive importers Blue Yachting Australia.
Part of the Blue Yachting team will be champion yachtsman Philippe Péché, who is the holder of the 2005 Jules Verne Trophy. Philippe sailed around the world on Orange II in a record 50 days, 16 hours and 20 minutes. Hell be giving test sails to clients immediately before and after the Sydney International Boat Show.
Catana won both first and second place in the 2005 ARC (Atlantic Rally for Cruisers), said Blue Yachting Australia director Luc Palisse.
Blue Yachting Australia, based in Careening Cove Marina, Kirribilli, is the exclusive importer of the Poncin Yachts Group products: Catana catamarans, Harmony monohulls and White Shark sportsfisher boats.
Mr Palisse said the Catana range of catamarans is constructed to the highest standards and aimed at the top end of the market, with the 47 Ocean Class valued at close to A$1.6 million plus GST.
The Ocean Class is comprehensively equipped for safe and comfortable blue water cruising and suited to a shorthanded crew. Standard inventory includes carbon fibre mast, self-tacking jib, electric winches and water-maker.
Fully equipped for circumnavigation, the Catana 47 has Category A ocean safety equipment and a full instrumentation package. The Catana 47 is part of the sail range which includes the Catana 43, 52 and 58 as well as custom projects up to 23m. Catana also has a 44 power model.
The 47 Ocean Class on display at Sydney International Boat Show is a three-cabin owners version, with four cabin models available. The luxurious accommodation features the entire starboard hull dedicated to the owners. The galley is positioned up, on the wing deck, and is central to the huge entertaining area created by sliding glass doors between the saloon and cockpit. One design feature which has attracted much interest is the giant portholes positioned in the side of the hulls, which make the internal space much lighter and remove obstacles from the deck.
The Catana 47 Ocean Class will be available for inspection in Sydney from mid-July to late August.
Later this month Blue Yachting Australia is launching the first Harmony yacht in Australia. The Harmony monohull range is competitively priced yet comprehensively equipped. Test sails will be available in Sydney in July.
