Sail-World and Powerboat-World Handed Important Roles for Sydney International Boat Show

17th April 2007

The Boating Industry Association of NSW, organiser of the Sydney International Boat Show (August 2-7) has appointed marine dot com companies Sail-World and Powerboat-World to coordinate a range of informative boating workshops.

Established by Tetra Media Marine Group, the two will form a key component to the association’s aim of educating, entertaining and informing show visitors.

The show this year celebrates its 40th edition and Domenic Genua, Marketing and Event Manager for the association, said it was a case of ‘all hands on deck’ to ensure the event was ‘one to remember.’

Genua said the association had appointed Sail-World and Powerboat-World to provide and arrange prominent guest speakers and other attractions for the Strictly Sail and Better Boating Workshop sessions.

These workshops will run non-stop throughout the show, with informative sessions covering a wide range of recreational boating topics.

“Sail-World and Powerboat-World are well connected, not only to the boating public at large, but to many other individuals and organisations that have something to share with recreational boating,” Genua explained.

“We felt that by appointing these two bodies as our key partner to run Strictly Sail and the Better Boating Workshops it would amount to a logical step to ensuring show visitors are entertained and informed by some of Australia’s leading boating personalities.

“Research undertaken into visitor profiles shows that those attending the show seek education, information and entertainment and that’s certainly our aim,” he added.

The 2007 Sydney International Boat Show, already recognised as Australia’s number one pleasure boat exhibition, is out to impress as it celebrates its 40th birthday.

Since moving into its now traditional Darling Harbour venue in 1989, the show has gone from strength to strength, and is considered the largest recreational boat show in the Southern Hemisphere.

It regularly attracts attendance of 90,000-plus.

Every square metre of the 28,000 square metres available in the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre is called upon, while on the sparkling waters of the adjoining Cockle Bay the largest marina in Australia built specifically for a boat show will be home to more than 305 luxury craft, sail and power.
