New Skippers for Delphia Yachts Australia and New Zealand
9 July 2007
Australian yachting pioneers, Bob Vinks and Geoff Pearson are the new importers and distributors in Australia and New Zealand for the luxurious and popular range of Delphia yachts built in Europe. Both partners have been in the Australian yachting industry for over 25 years, but are most excited about the opportunities that lay ahead with Delphia Yachts. Bob Vinks and Geoff Pearson have just returned from Poland, where the official ceremony and announcement was made.
We wanted to see first hand just how good these builders were, and lets say this, we were most impressed. Not only do they build these vessels to Germancher Lloyds highest specifications, the craftsmanship is second to none. The factory builds around 3,500 boats per year with a staff of 650. The factory not only builds the internationally acclaimed Delphia Yacht, but they also produce powerboats under licence for the Brunswick Corporation for all of Northern Europe. The standard of craftsmanship of these boats were simply best in class, explained Bob Vinks.
Delphia Yachts are recognised internationally as a major force in the cruising yacht market, and were introduced for sale in the Australian market 18 months ago. Since that time 18 yachts have already been sold within Australia.
The standard of building and materials used on these yachts are the best available in Europe. No money has been spared in producing these boats, but the price to the consumer is most affordable, with new yachts starting from $54,000.
All Delphia hulls are built using Vinyl Ester in the tie layer and Isothalic Gelcoats, giving the yachts a five year guaranty against osmosis. The hulls also use end grain balsa that gives the thickness required to maintain the excellent strength necessary for our trying conditions. Another interesting production tool was a specially designed pool allowing the yachts to be properly tested prior to them leaving the factory.
The yachts are fitted with the industries best. Brands such as Selden Riggs, Volvo Engines, Smev Stoves, Lewmar Winches and deck fittings and Jeffa Steering are standard. Other standard inclusions (optional on most other brands) are 240 volt shore power with battery management / chargers, Corrian galley bench tops, tin coated copper wiring throughout, 12 volt electric anchor winch, Isotherm water cooled refrigeration, teak inlay in the cockpit, large folding cockpit tables and Raymarine Instruments are just to name a few, Bob Vinks said.

The range of Delphia Yachts is most impressive. The smallest available is a 24 sports Trailer Boat that is priced from $54,000. Also available in the range is a 28, the 29, 37, and the largest a 40. Just released Christmas 2006 was the brand new model, the Delphia 33. Delphia Yachts never stop thinking about the consumer and their ever-changing needs and requirements on their yachts. Currently under development is the brand new 49 Delphia yacht with twin steering wheels and 4 cabins, and is scheduled to be available for sale in Australia at the Sydney International Boat Show in 2008.
Bob Vinks and Geoff Pearson will be displaying a range of the series of Delphia yachts at Sydney International and Melbourne Shows this year.
