Extra Coverage from Club Marine

20 July 2007

Club Marine Insurance, Australia’s leading provider of pleasure craft insurance, has announced the launch of its revamped Pleasure Craft Insurance Policy.

The company initiated a major revision of its boat insurance policy and has implemented a number of significant changes to offer extended coverage and increased value for its policy holders.

Club Marine CEO, Mark Bradley, said the policy amendments meant policy holders will now enjoy even more coverage and value for money.

“From the start, we aimed to identify areas where we could give our customers added value,” he said. “We believe we’ve achieved that and we welcome any comparisons between our new Pleasure Craft Insurance Policy and other products currently on the market.

Major revisions to the Policy include:

Increasing the Navigable Limit from 200 nautical miles to 250nm off the Australian mainland, Tasmania and New Zealand’s North and South islands

Extended social yacht racing limit from 15nm to 25nm

Full coverage is available for policy holders involved in marine rescue situations

Nil excess now applies to boats moored in marine pens if the pen is the boat’s usual berth

All vessels are covered for latent defects such as flaws resulting from the original manufacturing process

Cover for pollution caused by fuel, lubricant or sewerage spills is increased from $250,000 to $500,000

Coverage for emergency land transport required to move a boat stranded on a roadway is increased from $200 to $1000

Increased limits on cover of fishing, diving and ski equipment and tools from $500 in total to $5000

Increased limits on cover of personal effects from $200 per item to $500 per item with a total limit of $5000

Payment of unlimited salvage and wreck removal costs in excess of the sum insured

Funeral expenses for the insured up to $5000
