Brunswick to Shine in Sydney

22nd May 2007

With the Harbour City at the heart of Australia’s boating culture, the 2007 Sydney International Boat Show is a key event on the boating calendar and Brunswick will be there with the best and brightest boats, engines and accessories.

Mercury & Mariner Outboards – new 200 & 300 hp Verados!

The highly successful supercharged 4-stroke Mercury Verado range is being expanded, and boaties at the Sydney International Boat Show will be able to see pre-production versions of the two new models

There’s the new flagship supercharged 300hp 6-cylinder model, as well as a new high performance 4-cylinder 200hp model which will be the lightest engine of its type in the world!

Both build on Verado’s reputation for generating awesome acceleration, top-speed, smoothness and reliability.

Mercury MerCruiser – new models and new technology

Mercury MerCruiser’s revolutionary super-compact 100hp Vazer sterndrive will undoubtedly be one of the centres of attention in Sydney. The newly created Vazer, with the bulk of the engine just 52 centimetres high, is destined to replace outboards in a range of traditional applications and give boat designers the space and freedom to explore a range of new layout possibilities.

Visitors will also be able to see the brilliant new SeaCore engines, which are as close to being corrosion-proof as a propulsion system can get. With a unique six-step coating and painting process, industrial hardcoat anodizing, a closed-cooling system and widespread use of stainless steel components, SeaCore engines have moved the entire industry forward.

Mercury MerCruiser will also be showing its new, more powerful 315hp, four-barrel carburetted ski engine. The new engine has been aimed at the ski-boat owner who’s looking for plenty of power along with the security and peace of mind that comes from the MerCruiser brand.

Cummins MerCruiser Diesel – new QSD series

Sydney will also see the newly launched QSD series from Cummins MerCruiser Diesel. Boasting the very latest fuel injection technology, the QSD series features a high-pressure common rail fuel injection system that significantly reduces smoke, noise and vibration while providing rapid and refined power delivery.

The series – which includes 2.0, 2.8 and 4.2 litre engines with ratings spanning 115 to 350hp – has been designed as a drop-in replacement for many petrol-engined applications.

Sea Ray – huge showing from sport boats to motor yachts

Known worldwide for their superb fit out, high performance and seaworthiness, Sea Ray boats will be a cornerstone of the Sydney show – with three models never before seen in Australia.

The 60 Sundancer is 19 metres of pure delight. This exquisite machine offers the perfect yachting experience. Built of the finest materials and designed to satisfy every need, it comes with the option of air-conditioned crew quarters. Need we say more.

The 55 Sundancer, the newest addition to Sea Ray’s yacht fleet, boasts a full width master stateroom and a forward VIP stateroom with a queen-sized berth and walk-in closet. Externally there’s a fibreglass hardtop with enclosure and two independent retractable sunroofs, and the very best electronics, including a Sea Ray Navigator, a 30cm LCD chart plotter and Raymarine® radar.

The 330 Sundancer rounds out the three never-before-seen machines. Designed for more modest tastes than its two big sisters above, this cruiser still easily blends elegance, luxury and grace, with features that include state-of-the-art navigational technology, an open airy cabin with extra-large windows, an amazing amount of storage space, and a Sirius® satellite radio.

Savage Tasman – new 5.2 metre Cuddy with a host of features

The new Savage Tasman is a worthy addition to the Savage range, boasting a hat-full of new, up-to-the-minute features.

This great all-rounder comes with a wrap-around windscreen which opens to create a walk-through section.

A new look flat dash has been included to accommodate the engine instruments with the electronics inset into the dash area. The cockpit has fully-moulded sides, which help conceal the engine controls.

Unique removable aft seats provide additional stowage, there’s a separate anchor locker forward, and as the new Savage Tasman has the capacity to handle a 115 hp engine, there’s plenty of power available as well.

SmartCraft VesselView – new interface with larger, colour screen and extra features

Mercury Marine’s all new VesselView SmartCraft display will also be on show in Sydney.

This stunning upgrade to the standard SmartCraft user interface provides a larger, more advanced screen, colour graphics and easy-to-read displays, and access to a greater range of data.

SmartCraft is Mercury’s exclusive network-based system that gives boaters an unprecedented level of information about their boats. SmartCraft links the propulsion control module on each engine to an advanced computer network so the driver can access all manner of data such as speed, engine rpm, cooling water temperature, water depth and fuel consumption via SmartCraft gauges and displays.

VesselView’s advanced 12-and-a-half centimetre colour screen is visible in direct sunlight and the on-screen graphics have been redesigned to make them easier to understand. VesselView also features more buttons than previous interfaces, so it’s very user intuitive, even in rough weather or higher speeds, making it simple to access all manner of data such as speed, engine rpm, cooling water temperature, water depth and fuel consumption.

Boston Whaler

The “unsinkable legend” will certainly attract its fair share of attention in Sydney with three boats which will interest a wide spectrum of buyers.

The sporty 180 Dauntless is for the fishermen. Unusually roomy for an 18-footer, it features tons of storage space, plus plenty of room to move around and a full-width stern seat that folds flat for fishing or watersports. The stern deck also features a standard livewell.

With big-boat amenities in a trailerable package, the 240 Outrage is ready for serious bluewater fishing right out of the box. Its wide beam provides plenty of space for 360-degree fishing for up to a dozen avid anglers, and an enclosed head / storage area helps keep the fun going all day long.

Meanwhile, the 305 Conquest - Boston Whaler’s largest cabin boat – is perfect for fish fighting or entertaining or both. Its helm deck area is elevated for superior visibility, the recessed bow walkaround provides more secure access, and the cabin interior includes cherry cabinetry, granite-coloured countertops and decorator vinyls and accents.

Quicksilver Inflatable Boats – quality range goes from strength to strength

Also on display, up to 18 examples of Quicksilver’s proven, high-quality inflatable boats.

The range spans from the soft-bottom 200 Roll-Up that you can put in the boot of your car, to the large Ocean Runner RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) which can be teamed with 25 hp outboards, and the heavy duty models which can carry up to 11 adults.

Quicksilver has the inflatable boats to match any application – tenders, sports, fishing, family fun and even professional uses.

Quicksilver inflatable boats are built to last (unlike many new brands on the market) being constructed of either Duratex HD or Hypalon XD fabrics, and they are designed to do whatever a conventional boat can do – but a lot cheaper and with a lot more fun.
