Not Your Average Tender - Offshore shows off the latest Big Boy's Toy that takes Boating to New Heights
25 July 2007
Every year new crazes hit the market, and the latest Big Boy Toy is a personal Mircolight Aircraft. Offshore Marine Technology is showcasing this latest craze on the luxurious Offshore 64 at the 2007 Sydney International Boat Show.
The Aircraft is a traditional Microlight which is fitted with floats, making this the greatest & craziest new tender on the market. Weighing a little more than 200KG, it can be easily launched and retrieved from the flybridge, via a deck crane.
I saw these mircolight over in the States about 2 years ago, having been a pilot in a previous life, I thought this was the greatest idea. After searching Australia for the aircrafts I finally acquired one in the past month said Keith Hills Owner of the Offshore 64.
The aircraft works in a similar way to a sea plane, its a 2 seated open cockpit, which takes off and lands on the water. To become a Microlight pilot you only need 20 hours of actual flying lessons and this can be done easily in a month or two. Said Kyle Probert, Float Trikes Australia
Every year over 3000 new yacht tenders are sold in the Australian market. But only the new microlight aircraft can take your boating experience to new heights. It can be used as a traditional tender; transferring passengers and goods from the shore and towing water skiers, but the microlight also allows you to take off from the water and fly great distances. Now you can explore Australias magnificent inland waterways, islands and coral reefs not only from the water but now from the air!
I cant wait to get up to the Whitsundays later this year, I can just imagine waking up on the perfect day and thinking to myself might fly out to the reef today Said Mr Hills
You can visit the Mircolight Aircraft on the Offshore 64 at the Sydney International Boatshow in Darling Harbour, and see for yourself how exciting boating can be when you have the right tender to go with the right boat.
Offshore Marine Technology can be found on the Marina in berths 203 and 205 (near the Western entrance to the marina)
