Sydney, Australia, June 17, 2008 – Online event portal, Sticky Tickets has been selected to manage online ticketing for the 2008 Sydney International Boat Show.

For six exciting days, July 31 to August 5, Darling Harbour will become the headquarters of the Australian boating industry when the 2008 Sydney International Boat Show clicks into top gear. Children under 5-years admitted free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.stickytickets.com.au/752.

The Sydney International Boat Show, which first ran in 1968, has now become the most recognised boating event in the southern hemisphere with the largest visitor numbers of any boat show in Australia. The unrivalled success of the Sydney Show attracts audiences, locally, interstate and internationally – in 2007 nearly 82,000 people visited, with a record attendance of 93,501 in 2004.

Organisers of the Sydney Show, the Boating Industry Association of NSW Ltd (BIA) decided to utilise the Sticky Tickets portal this year to manage the event’s ticketing. Domenic Genua, Marketing and Event Manager of BIA, said, “The Sticky Tickets portal was the best option for the BIA to handle ticketing for this year’s Sydney Show.”

“"With such a large number of attendees each year, we are always on the look out for cost-effective services to further enhance our management of the event. We found Sticky Tickets very simple - we created our event on the Sticky Tickets portal and now it is doing all the work for us.”

“Best of all, it is low maintenance and there is no huge outlay, which is a big plus for a not-for-profit industry association like us that does not have big budgets to play with," said Genua.

Sticky Tickets, which launched in July 2007, is a free service which allows amateur and professional event organisers to promote, sell and manage their events, be it private or public, corporate or casual. Developed by Hunter-based company Redback Solutions, it is the first events portal of its kind in Australia.

Matt Freedman, CEO of Sticky Tickets, said, “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the BIA for the 2008 Sydney International Boat Show. The Sydney Show is the largest event that has been hosted by Sticky Tickets and is a great example to demonstrate to events organisers its ease of use. With an intuitive interface, events organisers for big and small events will find it a valuable addition to their roles.”
