11 July 2008
If you wanted to buy a length of rope for a specific purpose, these days, you are going to have a lot to choose from. The advancements in fibre technology over the past 10 years has seen what was a simple choice of strength, stretch and colour has expanded to include specific characteristics such as shape under load, turning/twist/flexability characteristics, creep, extension, UV and chafe resistance, weight per length, ability to splice or reduce in diameter and more.
Marlow Rope lives at the cutting edge of rope development for the marine market as well as aeronautical, civil engineering, climbing, military and other industries and sport.
Fibre products have been replacing heavier stainless steel wire in yachting and structural applications, which drastically reduces the weight and often difficult handling associated with steel cables. Due to the rapid development in fibre technology smaller ropes are now utilized where once, steel or larger rope were required to handle the load. Marlow rope align themselves and team up with offshore andventurers, and race teams, such as America's Cup and Volvo Ocean Race to test and further develop their products.
Marlow Rope are now distributed in Australia by Barlow Distributors. Samples of a huge variety of specialized and basic types of Marlow Rope will be on display at this years Sydney International Boat show being held at the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre from July 31 to August 5th. Marlow Rope can be found on stand number 149.
