Sydney International Boat Show to host World Launch of Revolutionary Moody 45DS

16 June 2008

World-renowned luxury cruising yacht maker Moody will unveil its cutting edge new deck saloon yacht at the Sydney International Boat Show from July 31 to August 5.

The keenly-anticipated Moody 45DS is expected to attract massive international attention, and will be the first in a new range of innovative deck saloon models to be released under the flagship of new Moody owner Hanse Yachts.

Hanse amalgamated Moody into its boating range in 2007, and plans to continue its domination of this segment of the yachting market, says Michael Schmidt, owner of Hanse Yachts Germany. He is proud to be associated with a brand that is already globally recognised producing premium seagoing deck saloon yachts.

Moody has a firmly established reputation as a market leader in this sector and in setting new standards in technical innovations, manufacturing processes, and design – giving strong foundations on which Hanse plans to build even further.

"Moody is an established, traditional English brand,” he says.

“We have injected new life into the Moody brand, ensuring the continuation of a 150-year-old yacht-building tradition with a completely new generation of vessels.

“The Moody brand has always been synonymous with innovation, quality and solid craft – and it shall continue like that in the future.

“Today's chosen design for the Moody will be tomorrow's design for yachting.”

Top class Moody designers Bill Dixon and Mark Tucker have implemented new ideas and concepts to create boat that cleverly manages to maximise comfort and livability without compromising on sailing performance.

The saloon is positioned on the same level with the cockpit, creating a feeling of spaciousness usually reserved only for larger motor yachts, while the elongated roof provides weather protection from all of forms of weather and full visibility.

The premium interior of the Moody 45DS caters to the individual boating enthusiasts style and taste, offering three different cabins and four different deck saloon layouts.

The production process for the new Moody 45DS uses the latest technology, including a state-of-the-art, five-axis milling machine, guaranteeing the highest precision and accuracy. The epoxy hulls are moulded using modern vacuum technology.

This system produces significantly greater stiffness while reducing weight, and the best guard against osmosis. Durability, high resale values, and excellent sailing characteristics are the result of this production technology.

The Moody 45DS will be available through Windcraft Australia and is priced from $780,000.
